Brass brushes can be used, often in running or shallow water, to brush over the surfaced of metal objects to clean and burnish the surface and bring metal up to a soft satin glow finish. Shot must be stored in water with burnishing soap or dry in a air tight container. When wet and exposed to air rust will form.

An essential tool for jewellers looking to regularly polish metal or plastics. This double-ended bench lathe has threaded spindles which will fit a wide range of grinding and polishing wheels, spin at high speed to provide a highly efficient grinding, sanding, and polishing service. Cotton, leather and fabric wheels can be treated with polishing compounds to remove dirt and scratches and bring up a high mirror finish on metals and a gloss finish on plastics such as Perspex. This machine operates at high speed and can catch and pull at material being polished, and can catch and wind fabric, jewellery or loose hair within range – use with care. Rotary tumblers are easy to use, affordable and can be used to polish jewellery, harden and smooth metal & plastic elements and round off the shape of stones. Rotary machines are filled with shot (various kinds achieve different finishes), cleaning liquid, clean water and the stone/metal/jewellery pieces. The rolling action of the barrel on the moving belts turns the contents over and over to gradually buff and smooth.
