Male engagement rings are on the rise and even celebrities have caught on to the trend.
It’s traditional in western culture for the woman to wear an engagement ring but have you ever heard of a man wearing an engagement ring? Do men really wear engagement rings?
The simple answer is yes, men do wear engagement rings with diamonds and but not all do although the trend is rising.
Engagement rings, and more specifically, diamond engagement rings, for men have gone from unusual to completely acceptable and fashionable.
Did you know that both music genius’ Michael Bublé and Ed Sheeran wear engagement rings?According to Rogers and Hollands in countries such as Brazil and Sweden, it’s a longstanding tradition for men to wear engagement rings.
Like engagement rings for women, a “man-gagement” ring is a symbol of the promise of marriage, devotion and commitment.
There’s simply no reason why a groom shouldn’t be able to rock an engagement ring just like their partner.
According to Rogers and Hollands only 5 per cent of men wear a “man-gagement” ring however those numbers are on the rise.
According to data from Rogers and Hollands 50 per cent of males in same sex couples relationships said they prefer to have an engagement ring, and 40 per cent opt for a diamond engagement ring.
So how long will it be before this trend well and truly catches on and every man is wearing an engagement ring for a proposal just like women?
If this the future of what engagements will look like, who gets down on one knee to do the proposal?
Both partners may now need to save up for an engagement or “man-gagement” ring equal to three months wages, as the tradition goes.
