Either way one challenge for most creatives is staying motivated and keeping the creative ideas flowing.

Ideally creative ideas should just flow out of our brain whenever we need them to but for most it just doesn’t work like that.

Inspiration is important for creativity and it can be difficult to stay inspired when you are under pressure.

Funk and soul musician from Perth, Western Australia Elwyn Davies has recently fallen back in love with the art of music despite some unexpected road blocks.

Elwyn who is currently living in Melbourne says “as it has done to many, Covid-19 has really knocked around my confidence as a songwriter and performer due to gig cancellations.”

Elwyn recently underwent surgery on both her hands after being attacked by a stray kitten which could have been damaging to her career as a talented keyboardist and vocalist.

However despite Covid-19 and her recent operation Elwyn has finally found inspiration to start singing again.

Elwyn says singing again felt good after the frustration of being injured and the tough nature of Melbourne’s lockdowns.

One of the most important things to do if you are struggling for inspiration is to get up and take that break.

Another great thing to do is to cut yourself some slack as often we try to make something perfect when really we should be making it good.

At work talking with colleagues when under pressure leads to the employees to think less creatively, studies have found.

Overall it’s okay to give yourself some breathing room and let your mind wander somewhere else or walk away when trying to stay creative.

But most importantly, just start.
